Resting peacefully on the banks of the Zambezi River, under a grove of evergreen Mahogany trees, Chiawa Camp holds the prime position in the heart of Zambia’s Lower Zambezi National Park.
It is at this very spot, where David Livingstone ventured through nearly 150 years previously, where the Cumings Family in 1989 created the very first photo safari operation in the Lower Zambezi National Park and what has since become one of Africa’s most desirable, sought after safari destinations.
Constructed mainly of natural materials Chiawa Camp blends in effortlessly with its idyllic surroundings and it is here where guests receive the very best Africa has to offer. A stunning thatched lounge/bar area with upstairs viewing deck provides one of the best views of the Zambezi.
Enjoy Chiawa’s renowned cuisine on our al-fresco dining veranda - naturally vegetarians are catered for; however please give us advance notice of any special culinary requirements. After dinner, retire to the campfire and enjoy a cocktail or two while taking in the sounds and magic of the African night.
In the heat of the day take a dip in the refreshing plunge pool, complete with sundeck, overlooking the Zambezi of course.
There are nine Superior Tents at Chiawa Camp, accommodating a maximum of 16 guests on an individual basis or a maximum of 18 guests if the camp is booked out in its entirety for a group. The tents all have excellent views and are accessed by paths running behind them to maximize privacy.
Tents VII - IX all overlook the “dry riverbed” with quartering views of the Zambezi River whereas Tents I - VI face the Zambezi directly

Guest Tent 1-6All directly face the Zambezi and are closest to it. Bathrooms to the rear with "through-room" views. All rooms have indoor and outdoor showers, ball & claw bath, his & hers washbasins complemented by Molton Brown amenities, choice of King size or 2 x 3/4 beds with Egyptian cotton linens, 24/7 220v power for charging and lighting, ceiling and table fans. |

Guest Tent 7 & 8Angled to the Zambezi with views across the Chowe floodplain and bathrooms to the side with direct views. These rooms have good views but are a little further from the river and further from the main lodge areas. |

Guest Tent 9 - HoneymoonSimilar to T7&T8 but further away and perched high above this has a great view and is the most private but is the furthest away from the main areas. Also has a small private dining deck . |

Your Destination
Location
Zambia is situated mainly on a vast plateau 1.8 miles above sea level, and boasts the Zambezi, Kafue and Luangwa rivers - as well as one of the largest waterfalls in the world, the Victoria Falls, which it shares with neighboring Zimbabwe. Most of the country has a mild, pleasant climate, while the river valleys are hotter and more humid; the extreme north becomes tropical on the shores of Lake Tanganyika, one of Zambia's ten large lakes. While Lusaka is the country's capital, Livingstone, just 6 miles from the Falls, is more well known to travelers as the 'adventure capital' offering adrenalin-packed activities on and around the Falls and the Zambezi River.
