September 09, 2011: Kilimanjaro Paraglifing Expedition

What started as a crazy idea between friends nearly 10 years ago, is finally turning into reality. The first ever legal paragliding flights from Uhuru Peak, Kilimanjaro, the roof of Africa, are just around the corner. The expedition has also been put together to commemorate the 50 year ‘Uhuru’ Celebrations in Tanzania. (Uhuru means freedom). They are hiking to the summit and planning to fly off (weather permitting) on the 16 September 2011. Follow this expedition on the website : http://www.livetrack24.com - Event name 2011 Paraglide Kilimanjaro - where up to the minute live tracking will be provided, from the 11 - 18 September.

Team leader Linda Willemse (Wild Frontiers Sales and Marketing) along with Pierre Carter will be fronting the expedition to climb and paraglide off Kilimanjaro. Pierre is paragliding from Kilimanjaro along with Marianne Schwankhart in his bid to fly off the highest peak on each of the world’s seven continents. (http://blog.7summits7flights.co.za)

Linda in conjunction with John and Debbie Addison from Wild Frontiers have put in all the hard work on the ground to make this dream a reality. It has taken many years of delicate negotiations to come this far.

Precision Air along with Wild Frontiers are the main sponsors for the event and boy have they come to the party! Without the input from these companies the expedition would not have been possible
