Arrive and start your adventure in cosmopolitan Cape Town, where you’ll enjoy 3 nights at the Victoria and Alfred Hotel. Then, experience some of the best game viewing that both South Africa and Botswana have to offer in a 5 day cross-border safari. The northern South Africa - southern Botswana region offers excellent sightings of lion, cheetah and leopard. Along the river courses are found eland, impala, wildebeest, giraffe and zebra. At night, creatures such as bat-eared fox, leopard and African wild cat emerge. The diversity of the terrain and availability of water are the reason for such an abundance of wildlife. This is also a birding hotspot, with 400 recorded species.

Itinerary

Day 1

Depart US

Days 2 - 4 - Cape Town

Upon arrival in Cape Town you will be transferred for a 3 night stay at the Victoria & Alfred Hotel. A city tour is included.

Day 5 - Mashatu Tented camp, Botswana

Upon arrival at Polokwane Airport, transfer to Mashatu, a 3-hour drive away. Mashatu Tent Camp in the northern area of the Reserve sleeps 16 guests in eight en-suite tents. There is an open-sided thatch deck where meals are served, a traditional boma for intimate campfire dinners, and a plunge pool.

Day 6 - Game Drives

Mashatu Game Reserve is home to no less than seven of Africa’s giants: the African elephant, the lion, the giraffe, the baobab tree, the eland, the ostrich and the kori bustard. The Reserve is also a proud refuge of the largest, single population of elephant on privately-owned land in Africa.

Day 7- Pafuri Camp, South Africa

Drive from Mashatu to the far north of the Kruger National Park. Pafuri Camp, situated on the Luvuvhu River, has 20 en-suite tents under thatch with indoor and outdoor showers. The main area, with large decks, open-sided lounge, dining areas and pool, is perfect for relaxing and watching the wildlife drawn to the river.

Day 8 - Game Drives

A fascinating variety of wildlife can be found here, along with more than 400 bird species. The Luvuvhu River attracts large herds of wildlife, including buffalo, hippo, seasonal elephant and excellent general game. Lion and leopard are attracted to this riverine belt.

Day 9 Depart

You will depart after breakfast. Overnight onboard aircraft.

Game drives in open 4-wheel drive safari vehicles conducted by experienced rangers and trackers. Nature walks. Transfers to/from the Limpopo Valley Airfield and the Pont Drift Border Post at scheduled times. Transfers to/from Pafuri airfield.
