Between Cape Town in the south, and East London on the eastern Cape coast, runs an astoundingly beautiful stretch of coastline, the Garden Route, South Africa’s own garden of Eden. Four four exceptional days, you will be taken from the spectacle of the world-renowned Cango Caves to the flamboyant ostriches on one of the vast feather farms. Journey by ferry to the Featherbed Nature Reserve at the entrance on Knysna lagoon, and persuade you to taste some delectable oysters in the oyster capital of South Africa. Meandering along the coastline, it’s on with those walking shoes for an inspiring stroll through the towering age-old trees for which the Tsitsikamma National Park is revered.

Itinerary
Day 1 - Cape Town - Oudtshoorn
Depart Cape Town and travel via Montagu on ‘Route 62’ (South Africa’s version of America’s famous ‘Route 66’) to the village of Barrydale where we stop for tea (own account). Then on to Oudtshoorn, known as the ‘feather capital of the world’ thanks to its huge ostrich industry. After a tour of an ostrich farm, continue to our Oudtshoorn hotel. Accommodation: Oudtshoorn Inn or similar.
Day 2 - Oudtshoorn - Knysna (B)
This morning go underground to marvel at the icy formations in the Cango Caves. Continue via the Outeniqua Pass to George, then onto Knysna, perhaps South Africa’s most visually stunning resort, in the heart of the famous Garden Route. Spend the rest of the day discovering the joys of the town’s many art galleries, craft shops and coffee bars. Accommodation: Knysna Hollow Hotel or similar.
Day 3 - Knysna (B)
Cruise on the vast Knysna Lagoon, then visit the Featherbed Nature Reserve. Enjoy an amazing view of the imposing sandstone ‘Heads’ which guard the sea entrance to Knysna’s huge tidal lagoon, and the forests, marshes and pristine beaches surrounding it. After lunch spend the rest of the day at leisure. Accommodation: Knysna Hollow Hotel or similar.
Day 4 - Tour Concludes (B)
We get to Port Elizabeth mid afternoon, after a drive through the glorious indigenous Tsitsikamma Forest. The tour ends at Port Elizabeth airport or at a central hotel.
