Cape Town with the Atlantic Ocean and iconic Table Mountain dominating the landscape Cape Town, is fondly referred to as the “Mother City” and has something for everyone!  Travel along the exquisite stretch of coastline known as Millionaire’s Paradise – from Camps Bay and Clifton to the exclusive beach hamlet of Llandudno – towards the charming working harbor of Hout Bay; if you so choose, you can embark on an up-close-and-personal Seal Island cruise (own account). Back on terra firma, wind along the legendary Chapman’s Peak Drive, hugging the cliffs and relishing the breathtaking ocean views, before arriving at our lunch spot of choice (own account): the wild and beautiful Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, an integral part of the world-renowned Cape Floral Kingdom. We meander back along the coast towards the City, visiting the historic naval port of Simon’s Town and the endearing penguin colony at Boulder’s Beach.

Experience the exceptional winelands region, and the heavenly scenery…like the breathtaking views from the historical Taal Monument near Paarl. Enjoy a wine cellar tour, where you’ll learn all about the process of winemaking, from grape to goblet. Visit the exquisite little town of Franschhoek.  Travel through the Helshoogte Mountain Pass to meet the charming university town of Stellenbosch on the other side. Stroll through this little town, absorbing the quaintness, and sneaking into the odd shop or two! Enjoy wine tasting at two different wine estates.

Travel to Hermanus, past the white beaches of Koeël Bay and the villages of Rooiels, Pringle Bay and Betty’s Bay. Stop at the Harold Porter Botanical Gardens, with its wealth of indigenous Fynbos plants, including the rare Red Disa, for a mountain walk to the waterfall at Disa Kloof.  Drive over the Bot River to the charming village of Hermanus, pausing in the picturesque Hemel-en-Arde valley whose cool, maritime climate favors the growing of Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay grapes, found at acclaimed wine estates like Bouchard Finlayson, Hamilton Russell and Whalehaven.  Hermanus is known for its abundant sightings of Southern Right Whales, which come in very close to shore to mate and calve (from June to November). There are excellent vantage points from cliff paths that run from one end of the town to the other.

From the Cape, travel to the renowned Sabi Sands.  Staying in the Sabi Sands ensures a more private and privileged experience than in the Kruger park itself.  Rangers need not abide by park rules and can go off-road to get closer to animals; lead you on bush walks tracking Africa’s wild beasts; and, there are night drives, sleep-outs and dinners in the bush.  When you are not spotting the Big Five, you can spend your days relaxing at the lodge, lazing by the pool, spoiling yourself with a spa treatment and feasting on gourmet African cuisine.  Lion Sands has been family owned and managed since 1933, thus offering you an exclusive and personalized African Safari!
